Call For Papers


The 2004 IEEE Digital Signal Processing Workshop and Workshop on Signal Processing Education, will be held in Taos Ski Valley, in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Northern New Mexico, August 1-4. The goals of the workshops are to unite top researchers from around the world to discuss novel signal processing theories and methods, and to bring together world-class educators and thinkers to discuss all aspects of signal processing education. The list of plenary speakers will include Gene Frantz (Texas Instruments Principal Fellow), Prof. Alan V. Oppenheim (MIT), Dr. Carey Schwartz (DARPA), and Jim Truchard (CEO of National Instruments). Each workshop will also feature technical sessions for presenting contributed papers.

Potential authors are encouraged to submit two-page extended abstracts on topics pertinent to the workshops. Example paper topics for the DSP Workshop include, but are not limited to:

  • Biomedical Signal Processing

  • Multicarrier Communications

  • Networking

  • Security Applications

  • Distributed Signal Processing

  • New applications for DSP

Example paper topics for the Education Workshop include, but are not limited to:

  • Novel labratory, computer-based, and distance teaching methods

  • Signal processing education in non-traditional venues

  • Pedagogy and curriculum issues

    • theory vs. practical

    • simulation vs. real time

    • early vs. late in the curriculum

Deadlines:

Submission of two-page abstracts: extended to midnight, Mar. 15, 2004
Notification of acceptance: by May 21, 2004
Five-page camera ready papers due: June 1, 2004
Advance registration due: extended to June 15, 2004
