Getting to Taos Ski Valley:

FLYING INTO ALBUQUERQUE

Although you can fly directly into the town of Taos (see below), the cheapest way to get to Taos Ski Valley is to fly into the Albuquerque International Airport and either rent a car or reserve a shuttle. All major car rental companies are available in Albuquerque. The drive from Albuquerque airport to Taos Ski Valley is approximately 150 miles and takes just under 3 hours. Driving directions are given below.

Shuttles which provide service to Taos are listed below. If you decide to take a shuttle, be sure to tell them that you are going to "Taos Ski Valley" and not "Taos". These are two separate towns that are approximately 30 minutes apart. It is a bit confusing that the two names are similar, so be careful.

DIRECTIONS TO TAOS SKI VALLEY FROM ALBUQUERQUE AIRPORT

Exit baggage claim at the airport and look for the bus stop signs for the rental car shuttle bus (all companies). The bus will take you to the rental car center. From the rental car center, turn North (right) on University Boulevard and follow the signs for Interstate 25 North. Take Interstate-25 from the airport north to Santa Fe. Just before you get to Santa Fe, exit on Highway 599 (Santa Fe relief route) north to bypass Santa Fe. (For those wishing to travel through Santa Fe, you can take the St. Francis Drive/US 285 exit a few miles beyond the Highway 599 exit). From Highway 599, take US 285 north. Just outside the town of Espanola, take Highway 68 north to Taos. Once in Taos, follow the directions to the Ski Valley (Highway 522 to Highway 150). The Taos Ski Valley Resort Center is approximately 25 minutes from the town of Taos at the end of Highway 150 (literally at the end of the pavement). Please consult your hotel's web page for your specific hotel location. Most hotels are a short walk from the conference center.

FLYING INTO TAOS

Air service into Taos: Rio Grande Air has 3 flights daily from Albuquerque to Taos Airport via small plane commuter service. Rental cars and shuttle service is available at the Taos airport. However, Taos airport is very small, so if you choose to rent a car be sure to make a reservation well in advance as they may run out of vehicles.

DIRECTIONS TO TAOS SKI VALLEY FROM TAOS AIRPORT

Exit the airport and turn right (East) on route 64. In a few miles, there will be a stop light. Do not continue on 64 (this would be a right turn and would take you into the town of Taos, not Taos Ski Valley). Instead, go straight onto route 150. Go straight up the mountain for 17 miles on route 150. When the pavement ends- you're at Taos Ski Valley. Travel time ~30 minutes.
